Sydnee Weaver is originally from Sylvania, Georgia. Softball led her to the Enchanted Valley, where she fell in love with the mountains and the people.
Weaver played softball for the Mountain Lions from 2012-2015. She played in 195 career games for the Mountain Lions and had a .386 career batting average. She had 32 doubles and nine triples to go along with 78 stolen bases in 92 attempts. She scored 139 runs and drove in 55. Weaver is first in the YHC record book in Division II era in batting average (.386) and stolen bases (78), second in hits (226) and triples (9), third in on-base percentage (.436) and runs scored (139), seventh in doubles (32), and ninth in slugging percentage (.471). She was named to the All-Peach Belt team in 2014 and 2015 and was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Southeast Region first team in 2015. She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II All-America team in both 2014 and 2015 and was the first YHC student-athlete to be named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for a sport in 2015. Weaver received the PBC Elite 15 Award in 2015. This award honored the student-athlete at the PBC Tournament with the highest grade-point average (4.0). Weaver received YHC's Luke Rushton '42 Scholar-Athlete Award, which is awarded to the senior student-athlete with the highest GPA. She also received the Outstanding Biology Senior Academic Award and Senior Research Award in her time at YHC.
In 2015, Weaver graduated from Young Harris College with a bachelor's degree in biology and minors in chemistry and psychology. She then went on to earn her doctorate of physical therapy at Armstrong State University, now Georgia Southern University- Armstrong Campus, in Savannah, Georgia, from which she graduated in 2018.
Weaver returned to Sylvania, where she now works as a physical therapist for Centerwell Home Health serving patients in Screven and Jenkins counties. She also enjoys coaching young girls, teaching them news skills and passing along her love for the game of softball to the next generation.
Weaver married Daniel Griffin in 2018, and the couple has a son, Chandler Thomas Griffin.
