YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Three Young Harris College Baseball standouts earned NCBWA All-Southeast Region honors after helping lead the Mountain Lions to a Conference Carolinas Championship and a run to the Southeast Regional title game.
Junior catcher Jack Enrico was named First Team All-Southeast Region, while junior first baseman Kade Smallwood and senior shortstop Carlos Martans earned Second Team honors. The trio played a major role in one of the strongest seasons in program history, highlighted by a 13-0 run-rule victory over North Greenville in the Conference Carolinas Championship game.
Enrico put together an outstanding junior season behind the plate and in the heart of the lineup. He hit .399 with 85 hits, 52 runs scored, 61 RBIs, 21 doubles, eight home runs, 36 walks, and a .997 fielding percentage as the Mountain Lions' catcher, committing just one error while recording 328 putouts and 26 assists.
Smallwood earned Second Team recognition after a powerful season at first base, batting .345 with 78 hits, 72 runs scored, 96 RBIs, 16 doubles, and a tied for team-leading 20 home runs. In his first full season as the Mountain Lions' starting first baseman, Smallwood also posted a .988 fielding percentage with 401 putouts and 15 assists.
Martans joined Smallwood on the Second Team after a breakout senior campaign at shortstop. He hit .367 with 80 hits, 65 runs scored, 46 RBIs, 17 doubles, two triples, three home runs, 26 walks, and 12 stolen bases. Defensively, Martans anchored the middle infield with 73 putouts and 160 assists at shortstop.
The All-Region recognition adds to a memorable postseason stretch for Young Harris, which captured the Conference Carolinas Championship and carried that momentum into the NCAA Southeast Regional, where the Mountain Lions advanced all the way to the regional title game.
