Mountain Lions Take Down Upset-Minded NGU In Final Minutes!

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Mountain Lions hosted North Greenville for a Conference Carolinas matchup on Monday afternoon (Feb. 16) and pulled out the game in the final minutes and won, 57-53. Player of The Game honors go to Kamryn Bates as she had 22 points on 7-for-15 shooting, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals.

With the win, Young Harris rises to 11-5 in conference play and 17–7 overall, while North Greenville falls to 3-13 in conference play and 8-16 overall.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • This matchup was very physical as there were 45 personal fouls called between both sides, with NGU being responsible for 29 of those fouls.  

  • Young Harris shot 33.3 percent (17-for-51) from the field, 21.4 percent (3-for-14) from three, and 64.5 percent (20-for-31) at the line. 

  • Young Harris was able to take control of the game by holding NGU to just 5 fourth quarter points.    

  • North Greenville was led by Jayla Cook, who scored 12 points, grabbed five rebounds, and picked up five assists. 

  • With the win, Young Harris cleans a 2-game losing streak off their plate, giving them a momentum builder for the remaining 4 games left until the Conference Carolinas tournament.
