BRISTOL, Tenn. | The Young Harris College Mountain Lions outlasted King University in a thrilling double-overtime battle on Wednesday evening (Jan. 21), pulling out a 63–61 Conference Carolinas road victory at the Student Center Complex.
Young Harris survived the Tornado's fourth quarter surge and held its composure across two extra periods to improve to 13–5 overall and 7–3 in league play, while King University slipped to 6–9 overall and 3–5 in Conference Carolinas action.
Kamryn Bates led all scorers with 26 points in a marathon 49-minute effort, but it was Annalise Malone who anchored the Mountain Lions with a historic performance on the glass, hauling in 23 rebounds to help fuel the comeback and overtime victory.
King surged ahead in the fourth quarter, outscoring Young Harris 21–6 to force overtime, but the Mountain Lions responded with six points in each extra frame to secure the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
• Kamryn Bates poured in a game-high 26 points, while adding eight rebounds, and four assists in 49 minutes.
• Annalise Malone finished with 14 points and pulled down 23 rebounds, marking one of the top single-game rebounding performances in Young Harris College women's basketball history, just behind Mackenzie Johnson.
• Katia Nekic added 13 points off the bench, knocking down three three-pointers and converting 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
• Young Harris held a 64–47 rebounding advantage and collected 13 second-chance points.
• The Mountain Lions connected on 10 three-pointers.
• King was led by Mary Elizabeth Fox with 15 points, while Alayna Smith chipped in 14.
• The game featured five ties and five lead changes, with neither team able to pull away in regulation or the first overtime.
