Young Harris Claims 80-62 Win Over Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, NC. | Young Harris College traveled to face Lees-McRae at the McNair & Debi Tornow Court on February 22nd (3 p.m.) and returned home victorious, defeating the Bobcats 80-62. The Mountain Lions were head-strong in this match retaining the lead all four quarters. Annalise Malone was the player of the game, racking up 24 total points. Lees-McRae's top player, Leah Barringer, contributed a total of 14 points for her team.

The Mountain Lions improved to 18-8 overall and 12-6 in the conference, while the Bobcats dropped to 7-16 overall and 5-14 in the conference.

"Great team win tonight on the road. This was very much a team win with many people contributing. I was happy to see us work to be efficient on the offensive end. We shared the ball and worked to get great shots. Now our focus becomes Chowan with a quick turnaround Monday. I'm so proud of how our team has improved and has mentally stayed locked in for this final stretch."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

· Annalise Malone led the Mountain Lions with 24 points, four rebounds, four assists, three steals and a perfect six for six from the free-throw line.

· Ivona Miljanic followed with 16 points, one block, and one steal.

· Kamryn Bates added 12 points, five rebounds, and went a perfect five for five from the free-throw line.

· Parehuia Delamere played a key role with nine rebounds and six assists.

· Lilly Griffith provided strong defense with seven rebounds and chipped in 11 points.

· Young Harris College shot 52.1% (25-48) from the field compared to the Bobcats' 29.2% (19-65).

· The Mountain Lions shot exemplary at the free-throw line with 87.5% (21-24) compared to Lees-McRae's 72.0% (18-25).

· The Bobcats' Aleysha Hill contributed nine points, and Kirsten Watt added nine points
