ROME, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's basketball team visited the Shorter University Hawks to go head-to-head at the Winthrop-King Centre (Jan. 28th). The Mountain Lions battled an extremely close match, eventually falling 67-64 to the Hawks. Our top player was Kamryn Bates who acquired 22 impressive points, the most in the game. Shorter's Derrica McCall was their top scorer, recording 21 total points. Young Harris College is now 12-7 overall and 6-5 in Conference Carolinas, whereas the Hawks are bumped up to 14-3 overall and 9-2 in the conference.

"I'm really proud of our team's fight tonight. I can't fault their effort at all. They kept fighting and fighting. We got away from our offensive footprint, which was mostly due to Shorter's pressure. We will get back at it tomorrow and prepare to be at home vs. Converse."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
· Kamryn Bates went five for eight at the FT line, eight for 13 in the field, and had a total of four rebounds.
· Ivona Miljanic achieved 12 points, a clean sheet at the FT line going four for four, and four rebounds.
· Courtney Davis contributed 9 points for Young Harris and shot in the field four for six.
· Parehuia Delamere accumulated eight rebounds for the Mountain Lions.
· Young Harris had nine total steals compared to Shorter University's six.
· Hawks' Tiara Lewis acquired a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
