YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Division II Conference Commissioners Association announced Young Harris College forward
Mackenzie Johnson as their 2022-23 Southeast Region Women's Basketball Player of the Year, highlighting the D2CCA Southeast Region Women's Basketball all-region teams.

Johnson, a junior from Chattanooga, Tennessee, averaged 18.1 points and 13.2 rebounds for the Mountain Lions who went 15-14 and advanced to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament final. The PBC Women's Basketball Player of the Year and two-time All-PBC performer was named the PBC Women's Basketball Player of the Week five times and was selected the Division II Conference Information Directors Association Player of the Week. Johnson is ranked third in NCAA Division II statistics with 21 double doubles, fourth in rebounds per game (13.2) and 38th in scoring (18.1). She is ranked No. 1 in the YHC record books in career rebounds (840) and No. 2 in scoring (1,045).

Joining Johnson on the first team are Catawba College's Lyrik Thorne, Tusculum University's Jami Tham, Francis Marion University's Lauryn Taylor and Carson-Newman University's Braelyn Wykle.

Wingate University's Bryanna Troutman, University of North Georgia's Caroline Martin, University of South Carolina-Aiken's Emily Trushel, Georgia Southwestern State University's Ava Jones and Limestone University's Quin Byrd compose the region's second team.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II Southeast region schools and conferences selected the D2CCA all-region teams. The process concludes with All-America selections announced later in the month.
