GAINESVILLE, Ga. | Young Harris College men's cross country runner
Mathew Biwott was named the Peach Belt Conference Championship individual title while the Mountain Lions finished in sixth place in the team competition Saturday (Oct. 24) morning.

Biwott won  with a time of 25:49.5 on the 8K UNG Cross Country Course, a first in the program's history. The sophomore from Iten, Kenya, was in a two-man race with Augusta University's Nick Del Gurecio over the last half mile. Del Guercio moved ahead with under 300 yards to go, but Biwott, who was named to the All-PBC team, began a sprint to the finish to win by three seconds. Biwott's time was his second-fastest 8k of the season.

Young Harris tied its best-ever finish in the conference meet as they came in sixth place with 154 points in the race. Tthe University of North Carolina at Pembroke took the team title with 49 points.

Abraham Asis came in 27th place with a time of 27:26.9 while
Jeremy Webb was right behind him in 29th with an effort of 27:30.0.
Raul Ramirez came in 43rd place with a time of 28:04.4 while
Cody Decker was 62nd with a time of 28:55.8.
Harrison Orr came in 81st place with a time of 30:40.5 and was followed by
Feybian Matthews (85th, 31:17.8),
Edwin Mejia (90th, 32:30.6),
Drew Milner (92nd, 34:14.4) and
Matthew Olle (93rd, 35:22.7). Mejia was also named to the All-Sportsmanship team from the Mountain Lions.

The Mountain Lions will return to action Nov. 7 when they compete in the 2015 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championship in Wingate, North Carolina.Â
