Six Mountain Lions Earn All-Conference Honors After Stellar Championship Performance

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Mountain Lions men's cross country team continues to make waves in the Conference Carolinas, with six Mountain Lions earning All-Conference honors following a standout performance at the Conference Carolinas Championship. With one final meet remaining, the NCAA Southeast Region Championships on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Charlotte; the Mountain Lions are riding high. Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Matt Logan has the group firing on all cylinders.

All-Conference First Team: 

  • Wyatt Whipp (JR) – Whipp led the charge for Young Harris, finishing 3rd overall at the Conference Carolinas Championship with an 8K time of 25:47.26, securing a spot on the All-Conference First Team. 

  • Aidan Vrazel (FR) – The freshman phenom placed 7th overall with a time of 26:02.77, also earning First Team honors. Vrazel's best performance of the season came at Bob Jones University, where he finished 2nd overall in the 6K with a blazing time of 19:34.1. 

All-Conference Second Team:

  • Austin Dezwart (SO) – Dezwart claimed 10th place at the championship meet with a time of 26:08.43, earning a spot on the Second Team. His season-best came at the Royals Challenge, where he ran an impressive 25:37.26 (8K) to finish 38th overall in a highly competitive field. 

  • Noah Mason (SR) – Mason wrapped up his conference career with a 13th-place finish and a time of 26:14.67, also landing on the Second Team. His top performance of the season was at the Royals Challenge, where he clocked 26:02.04 (8K) for 60th place. 

All-Conference Third Team:

  • Xander Potter (SO) – Potter earned Third Team honors with an 18th-place finish at the championship meet, running 26:38.68; his best 8K performance of the season. 

  • Matthew Honeycutt (SR) – Honeycutt rounded out the Mountain Lions' All-Conference selections with a 21st-place finish and a time of 26:46.16, also marking his top performance of the year.

With six All-Conference honorees and a season full of personal bests, the Mountain Lions are poised for a strong showing at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships in Charlotte. The team's depth, consistency, and competitive fire have made this one of the most successful cross country seasons in Young Harris College history.
