MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Young Harris College sophomore
Mathew Biwott won the meb's individual title as the Mountain Lions finished in third place at the Division II Georgia Collegiate Men's Cross Country Championship Saturday (Oct. 10) morning.
The Mountain Lions posted a third-place finish out of 11 teams in the meet with 75 points. Columbus State University won the meet with 39 points.
Biwott was the top runner in the 8K with a personal-best effort of 22:33.4 to claim the event by 21 seconds. Biwott picked up his second career win for the Mountain Lions.
YHC also had three top-10 efforts in the men's race as
Abraham Asis came in eighth place with a personal-best time of 26:42.8 while
Jeremy Webb was 10th with a time of 26:50.5.
Raul Ramirez came in 32nd place with a time of 28:13.2 while
Cody Decker was one spot behind with a time of 28:16.3.
Harrison Orr came in 55th place with a time of 30:27.7 and was followed by
Feybian Matthews (59th, personal best 30:37.9),
Edwin Mejia (71st, 32:09.3) and
Matthew Olle (76th, personal best 33:53.7).
The Mountain Lions will return to action next Saturday (Oct, 17) when they compete in the Berry Invitational in Mount Berry, Georgia.
