YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday afternoon at the Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex, sweeping Shorter University, 7-0. The Mountain Lions Men's Tennis team has now won three matches in a row.
The Mountain Lions secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Samuel Guzon and Noah Pawirodirjo cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Mason Harmon and Nills Vercruyssen followed with a 6-2 win at No. 2. Shorter picked up the win at No. 3 doubles, but Young Harris had already clinched the point.
In singles play, the Mountain Lions were flawless, winning all six matches in straight sets or three-set fashion.
Noah Pawirodirjo (Player of the Match) led the charge at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win, while Samuel Guzon followed with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 2. Mason Harmon was leading 6-3, 5-1 at No. 3 singles, before his opponent withdrew.
Greyson Williams battled through a three-set match at No. 4 singles, earning a 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 victory. Noah Torrealba Auerbach added a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5, and Parker Rowan closed out the sweep at No. 6 with a tight 7-6, 6-2 result.
