BANNER ELK, N.C. | The Young Harris College men's tennis team split a pair of Conference Carolinas matches over the weekend, falling 6-1 to Belmont Abbey on Friday before bouncing back with a 6-1 victory over Lees-McRae on Saturday to secure a share of the Conference Carolinas Southwest Division title.
Young Harris moves to 10-10 overall and 7-3 in conference play following the weekend.
The Mountain Lions opened the trip on Friday afternoon in Belmont, North Carolina, where Belmont Abbey (21-16, 10-0 CC) claimed the doubles point and controlled singles play to earn the 6-1 decision.
Young Harris picked up its lone point at No. 1 singles, where Noah Pawirodirjo rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Ricard Novell. Belmont Abbey secured the remaining five singles matches in straight sets to seal the match.
Belmont Abbey also won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to claim the early advantage, despite a strong 6-1 win from Mason Harmon and Nills Vercruyssen at No. 3 doubles.

The Mountain Lions responded on Saturday morning in Banner Elk with a dominant 6-1 win over Lees-McRae (6-8, 3-8 CC), clinching a share of the Conference Carolinas Southwest Division Championship.
Young Harris secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Pawirodirjo and Samuel Guzon earned a 7-5 victory at the top spot, while Harmon and Vercruyssen followed with an 8-6 win at No. 3.
In singles play, the Mountain Lions delivered a strong performance, winning five of six matches. Guillem Busquets Brau battled to a 7-6 (12-10), 7-5 win at No. 2, while Samuel Guzon, Mason Harmon, Greyson Williams, and Nills Vercruyssen each recorded straight-set victories.
