YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Down six runs late? No problem for the Mountain Lions. Young Harris erased a 6-0 deficit, storming back with six runs in the final two innings before walking off North Georgia 8-7 in the tenth inning Wednesday (Mar. 4) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field. The comeback victory extends the Mountain Lions' winning streak to 10 games.
Trailing 6-0 entering the bottom of the eighth, Young Harris ignited the rally when Kade Smallwood crushed a two-run home run to get the Mountain Lions on the board. The momentum carried into the ninth as Young Harris plated four runs to tie the game, highlighted by a two-run single from Smallwood that evened the score at 6-6.
North Georgia briefly reclaimed the lead in the top of the tenth, but the Mountain Lions refused to go quietly. Carlos Martans delivered an RBI single to tie the game before Drew Bray followed with the walk-off hit to complete the incredible comeback.
Player of the Game is awarded to Kade Smallwood.
Smallwood powered the offense, finishing three-for-five with a home run and four runs batted in, sparking the comeback that lifted Young Harris to its tenth straight win.
