YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's tennis team put together a perfect weekend in the Enchanted Valley, sweeping Ferrum 7-0 on Friday before following it up with a 6-1 victory over Francis Marion on Saturday at the Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Mountain Lions opened the weekend with a dominant all-around performance against Ferrum, improving to 4-8 overall at the time with the shutout victory.
Young Harris controlled doubles play from the start, sweeping all three courts. Samuel Guzon and Noah Pawirodirjo rolled to a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Mason Harmon and Nills Vercruyssen secured a 7-5 victory at No. 2. Parker Rowan and Noah Torrealba Auerbach capped the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
In singles, the Mountain Lions continued their dominance, winning all six matches in straight sets. Pawirodirjo led the way at No. 1 singles with a 7-5, 6-0 victory. Guillem Busquets Brau followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2, while Harmon cruised 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3. Torrealba Auerbach (6-1, 6-2), Vercruyssen (6-1, 6-3), and Rowan (6-2, 6-3) completed the sweep for Young Harris.
On Saturday, the Mountain Lions carried that momentum into another strong performance, defeating Francis Marion 6-1 to improve to 5-8 overall.
Young Harris once again swept doubles to take the early 1-0 lead. Pawirodirjo and Guzon earned a 6-4 win at No. 1, while Busquets Brau and Greyson Williams picked up a 6-3 victory at No. 2. Vercruyssen and Harmon closed out doubles play with a 7-5 win at No. 3.
In singles, the Mountain Lions claimed five of six matches. Pawirodirjo secured the point at No. 1 with a 6-4, 7-6 victory, and Busquets Brau followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2. Guzon delivered a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3, while Harmon battled back for a three-set win at No. 4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0. Williams added a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 5.
Francis Marion's lone point came at No. 6 singles, where Diego Vega Espinosa defeated Torrealba Auerbach 6-3, 6-2.
