YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's lacrosse team delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Shorter 18-7 in Conference Carolinas action.
The Mountain Lions improved to 7-3 overall and a perfect 5-0 in conference play, using a massive first-quarter surge to take control early and never look back.
Young Harris came out firing, scoring nine goals in the opening quarter while holding Shorter scoreless. Addison Heiser opened the scoring, and the Mountain Lions quickly built momentum behind balanced offensive production from Sydney Craig, Riley Parker, Mary Troyer, and Kailey Hanks.
By halftime, Young Harris held a commanding 13-2 lead after adding four more goals in the second quarter. The Mountain Lions continued to pour it on in the third, extending the lead to 17-2 before cruising through the final period.
Parker led the way with a game-high seven points on four goals and three assists, while Craig and Troyer each added six points with four goals and two assists apiece. Hanks contributed four points (three goals, one assist), and Heiser added two goals in the win.
Defensively, Young Harris controlled possession throughout, winning 19 draw controls and limiting Shorter's opportunities despite being outshot in the fourth quarter.
