FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's tennis team battled nationally ranked Emmanuel University on the road Monday afternoon, but the Mountain Lions came up short in a 6-1 decision to the No. 30 Lions.
Young Harris moved to 3-8 overall with the loss, while Emmanuel improved to 12-3 on the season.
The Mountain Lions picked up a strong win at No. 1 doubles as Noah Pawirodirjo and Samuel Guzon teamed up for a 6-4 victory over James Girdler and Shumpei Kamiyama. Emmanuel, however, claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, both by 7-5 scores.
In singles play, Greyson Williams provided the lone point for Young Harris with an impressive 8-2 win over Shumpei Kamiyama at No. 5 singles.
Pawirodirjo fell to James Girdler 8-1 at No. 1 singles, while Guzon dropped an 8-4 decision to Aleksander Simovski at No. 3 singles. Guillem Busquets Brau was defeated by Murilo Martins in straight sets 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2, and Mason Harmon fell 6-4, 6-2 to Henrique Castro at No. 4. At No. 6 singles, Noah Torrealba Auerbach was topped by Matteo Hofstetter 6-3, 6-0.
