YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's lacrosse team secured a statement Roar War victory on Tuesday evening, defeating Emmanuel 14-11 to remain unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play at 3-0.
The Mountain Lions (5-3, 3-0) used a dominant third quarter and a late push in the fourth to pull away in a back-and-forth battle with the Lions.
Young Harris opened strong, trading blows early before closing the first quarter on a 3-0 run to take a 5-4 lead. Emmanuel responded in the second quarter, briefly taking a 6-5 advantage before the Mountain Lions answered to tie the game 7-7 at halftime.
The turning point came in the third quarter, where Young Harris held Emmanuel scoreless while pouring in four goals. Riley Parker sparked the run with back-to-back goals, while Erika Baalam added a free-position goal and Addison Heiser capped the quarter with a goal off a Baalam assist to give YH an 11-7 lead.
Emmanuel made one final push in the fourth, cutting the deficit to 12-10, but Young Harris responded once again. Heiser and Parker each found the back of the net in the closing minutes to seal the 14-11 Roar War victory.
Addison Heiser led the Mountain Lions with six goals, while Riley Parker followed with five goals. Erika Baalam added two goals and an assist, and Camden Maday chipped in a goal.
Defensively, McKenna Graf recorded 12 saves in goal to anchor the Mountain Lions' effort.
