MARS HILL, N.C. | The Young Harris College baseball team fell 5-3 to Mars Hill University on Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 10) at Henderson Field.
Mars Hill struck first in the opening inning when Chapel Matson doubled to right field to bring home Mel Rubiera for a 1-0 lead. The Mountain Lions responded in the second inning as Jack Enrico blasted a solo home run to right field to even the score at one.
The game remained tied until the sixth inning when Mars Hill broke through with four runs. Bumgarner delivered an RBI single to put the Lions ahead before Starkey followed with a two-run single up the middle. Pastrana later added an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-1.
Young Harris attempted a late rally in the ninth inning when Keypher Contreras launched a two-run home run down the right-field line, scoring Jeo Hernandez to trim the deficit to two runs. However, Mars Hill held on to secure the victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
• Jack Enrico went two-for-four with a double and a home run.

• Mars Hill recorded six hits and drew six walks.
• Barrett Eldridge was charged with the loss after allowing three runs in one and one-third innings.
