YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Abby Schirm has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week after a standout performance at the Bobcat Classic, where she led the Mountain Lions to a pair of wins to open the 2025 season. Over four matches, Schirm averaged 3.89 kills and 2.56 digs per set, totaling 70 kills, 46 digs, and 11 service aces while posting a .266 attack percentage. She recorded three double-doubles and led Young Harris in both kills and digs across the weekend.
Schirm opened the tournament with 12 kills and two aces against Rollins College. She followed with a dominant 21-kill, 16-dig performance against Georgia College, hitting .310 in the five-set battle. In Young Harris' first win of the season, a five-set thriller over Albany State, Schirm posted 19 kills, 14 digs, and a .348 attack percentage. She closed the weekend with 18 kills, 10 digs, and a .286 attack percentage in a four-set win over Emory & Henry.
Young Harris finished the Bobcat Classic 2-2, dropping close matches to Rollins and Georgia College before bouncing back with wins over Albany State and Emory & Henry. Schirm's consistency and leadership were key in the Mountain Lions' strong finish, helping set the tone for the season ahead.
