YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Mountain Lions Men's Lacrosse program continues its upward trajectory with the promotion of Sam Scoba to Associate Head Coach, announced by Head Coach Branden Geldart. Scoba, who joined the Mountain Lions in 2023 as an assistant coach, has quickly become a cornerstone of the program's development and success.

"Coach Scoba has earned this promotion through his relentless work ethic, dedication to our program, and commitment to growing our footprint on campus and regionally," said Geldart. "He's a competitor and a relentless recruiter who has helped us grow in his short time here. He has a bright future in our sport, and I'm excited to see his impact this year!"

Since arriving in the Enchanted Valley, Scoba has helped guide the Mountain Lions to back-to-back appearances in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, doubling the team's win total from the season prior to his arrival. Under his leadership, four players earned All-Conference honors this past season, including first-team selections Ben Soenen and Kieran Isbister, and second-team honorees Hunter Stagg and Grady Stokes

Scoba's coaching journey includes impactful stops at Saint Leo University and Oberlin College, where he served as offensive coordinator. His foundation in the sport was built as a player at Dean College and Endicott College, where he was part of the 2015 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship team and earned multiple academic honors.

"I'm grateful to Young Harris College, our athletic department, and Coach Geldart for the opportunity to continue working with the YHC MLAX staff and program," said Scoba. "I'm excited to build on our progress and help grow the sport of lacrosse in our community."

Scoba holds a bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship from Endicott's Curtis L. Gerrish School of Business.

As the Mountain Lions prepare for the upcoming 2026 season, Scoba's promotion signals a continued commitment to excellence and growth within Young Harris College Men's Lacrosse. With a strong foundation and a consistent culture, the program is poised for even greater success.
