MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. | The Young Harris College men's lacrosse team fell to the University of Mount Olive 14-4 on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action.
The Mountain Lions opened the game strong, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter behind goals from Gunnar Fagerstrom, Noah Cosby, and Anderson Kesinger. Mount Olive responded with four straight goals to close the opening period and take a 4-3 lead.
The Trojans seized control in the second quarter, scoring seven unanswered goals to extend the advantage to 11-3 at halftime. Mount Olive added three more goals in the second half while Young Harris picked up its final score in the third quarter on a goal from Mathias Clark.
Fagerstrom, Cosby, Kesinger, and Clark each scored once for the Mountain Lions, while Clark also added an assist. Grady Stokes, Knox Holston, and Colburn Connelly each recorded an assist in the contest.
Mount Olive was led by Benjamin Vanderkley with five goals and one assist, while Trent Steele added three goals.
