YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College proudly celebrates the recognition of five women's golf student-athletes who have been named 2024-25 All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). This prestigious honor highlights their excellence both on the course and in the classroom.
The WGCA All-American Scholar Team is one of the most rigorous academic honors in collegiate athletics. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, be an amateur, remain on the team roster through the end of the season, and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's scheduled rounds.
Young Harris led all Conference Carolinas institutions with five honorees: Connor Johnson, Tamara Brito, Lucy Wiegert, Abbie Arthur, and Abby Adams. The remaining Conference Carolinas member schools combined for only two selections.
Scholar-Athlete Highlights:
-
Connor Johnson competed in 11 rounds this season, recording a season-low 78 at the Conference Carolinas Championship, where she tied for 30th. She was also recognized by the coaching staff for her leadership and positive influence on the program.
-
Tamara Brito led the Mountain Lions at the Conference Carolinas Championship, finishing tied for 9th with rounds of 73, 77, and 81. She earned three top-20 finishes and demonstrated consistent growth throughout the season.
-
Abbie Arthur balanced her academic success with steady contributions on the course, competing in 12 rounds throughout the season. She posted a career-best 79 at the Agnes McAmis Memorial and showed marked improvement in spring play, including a five-stroke gain between rounds at the Emmanuel Spring Invitational.
These five student-athletes have shown what it means to succeed both in the classroom and on the course. Their accomplishments speak to the high standards and strong culture of the Young Harris College golf program.
