YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has recognized the Young Harris College baseball program with the 2024-25 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack. The Mountain Lions are one of only 440 collegiate teams to earn this prestigious academic distinction.
To qualify for the award, teams must be led by an active ABCA member and maintain a team GPA of 3.00 or higher for the academic year. This award continues the ABCA's tradition of honoring programs that excel both in the classroom and on the field.
This national honor is awarded to ABCA member programs that maintained a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale during the 2024-25 academic year. The recognition reflects Young Harris' commitment to academic achievement while excelling at the highest levels of NCAA Division II competition.
On the field, the Mountain Lions put together one of their most impressive seasons in recent history. Young Harris reached the 2025 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship final, earned 40 wins for the second straight year, and were Conference Carolinas Co-Champions for the 2025 regular season. The team also earned a spot in the NCAA Southeast Regional, after finishing the Conference Carolinas championship as runner ups.
The recognition from the ABCA highlights Young Harris baseball's strong foundation of academic discipline and competitive success during the 2024-25 season.
