YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College slugger Jeremy Begora has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) National Player of the Week following a scorching performance that propelled the Mountain Lions to a flawless 4-0 week, including a statement sweep over Conference Carolinas leader Mount Olive.

Begora's bat was unstoppable as he terrorized opposing pitchers, hitting .588 (10-for-17) with 11 runs scored and 14 RBIs. The senior first baseman crushed five home runs, drew five walks, and posted an astronomical 1.471 slugging percentage alongside a .650 on-base percentage. His dominance makes him the first Conference Carolinas player to earn national recognition since March 2024 and the first position player from the league to be honored since May 2023.

The week began with a 9-7 road victory over Lee University, where Begora set the tone, going 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs. He followed that up with a monstrous weekend performance against Mount Olive, cementing his place as one of the most dangerous hitters in the nation.

Against the top-ranked team in Conference Carolinas, Begora put on a show, hitting .583 over the three-game sweep with seven hits, five home runs, and 12 RBIs. His most explosive outing came in game two, where he powered Young Harris to a 10-0 victory behind a two-home run, six-RBI performance, punctuated by a grand slam in the fourth inning that put the game out of reach.

Begora's series dominance began with a three-hit, two-homer, four-RBI performance in the opener. He carried that momentum into game two with his grand slam heroics before capping off the sweep with another home run and two more runs scored in the finale.

With their red-hot senior slugger leading the charge, the Mountain Lions have now taken down the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in Conference Carolinas in consecutive weeks. As the postseason approaches, Young Harris is coming into shape at the right time.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball, recognizing outstanding performances at both the regional and national levels. With this latest honor, Begora cements his name among the nation's elite, and the Mountain Lions continue their march toward championship contention.
