YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College slugger Jeremy Begora has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region Player of the Week following an electrifying performance that led the Mountain Lions to a perfect 4-0 week, including a statement sweep over Conference Carolinas leader Mount Olive.

Begora's bat was on fire as he torched opposing pitchers, hitting .588 (10-for-17) with 11 runs scored and 14 RBIs. The senior slugger smashed five home runs, recorded five walks, and posted an astronomical 1.471 slugging percentage alongside a .650 on-base percentage.

The week began with a 9-7 road victory over Lee University, where Begora set the tone, going 3-for-5 at the plate and driving in two key runs.

However, it was over the weekend against Mount Olive where "Scary Jerry" came to life. Facing the top-ranked team in the Conference Carolinas standings, Begora delivered a jaw-dropping performance across the three-game series, batting .583 with seven hits—including five home runs—12 RBIs, and drawing three walks (two intentional). His most explosive outing came in game two of the series, a 10-0 Mountain Lions victory, where he went 2-for-3 with two home runs, including a grand slam in the fourth inning that blew the game wide open at 7-0.

Over the course of the series, Begora provided a relentless offensive spark. In the series opener, he tallied three hits, two home runs, four RBIs, and four runs scored. He followed that up in game two with the grand slam as part of a six-RBI masterpiece before capping off the sweep with yet another home run and two more runs scored in the finale.

Begora and the Mountain Lions have now defeated the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in Conference Carolinas in consecutive weeks. As the postseason approaches, Young Harris is proving to be a force to be reckoned with—led by their red-hot senior slugger.
