Win Over UNG Marks Back-to-Back Days with Double Digit Runs for YH

The YH bats were hot once again, today putting up 11 runs for the victory over the Nighthawks of UNG (Mar 12th).

Box Score DAHLONEGA, GA | The YH bats were hot once again, today putting up 11 runs for the victory over the Nighthawks of UNG (Mar 12th). Four Mountain Lions had a multi-RBI day at the plate. A five run second inning gave Young Harris early momentum over North Georgia. 
 
The Mountain Lions move to 16-8 overall and remain 8-4 in Conference Carolinas. The Nighthawks move to 15-8 overall and have a 5-1 record in the Peach Belt Conference. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Mountain Lions got out to a 6-0 lead after the first two innings. In the first, Kade Smallwood reached on a fielder's choice for an RBI. In the second, Drew Bray's (1-4) RBI single and Jonny Smith's (2-5) three-run blast widened the gap.
  • Phillip Ard and Riley Frost began the comeback effort for the Nighthawks in the third. UNG tacked on two.
  • The Mountain Lions and Nighthawks both added one run in the fourth. Kade Smallwood (1-2) hit a sacrifice fly and Andrews Opata reached and scored one on a YH error.
  • Mind games from Young Harris knocked in a run in the fifth. Carlos Martans stole second, and Jack Enrico (1-3) advanced home. YH led 8-3.
  • Jake Prince of UNG doubled to left center in the Nighthawks half of the fifth for two. 
  • Young Harris found success in the long ball in the sixth and seventh innings. Each with a solo shot, Kade Smallwood went the opposite way to left while Jack Enrico pulled the ball to right.
  • In the eighth, Jack Enrico had a sacrifice fly to knock in Luke Hatcher (2-5).
  • Austin Ritchie was warranted the win after three innings pitched and four strikeouts.
 
UP NEXT: The Mountain Lions will get some rest this weekend and return to action at Lee University next Tuesday (Mar 18th) for a 4PM first pitch.
