YOUNG HARRIS, GA | A tough back-and-forth battle today for the Mountain Lions, who fell 14-13 to Mars Hill University (Mar 11
th).
The Mountain Lions move to 15-8 overall and remain 8-4 in Conference Carolinas. The Lions are 6-18 overall and have a 1-8 record in the South Atlantic Conference.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Mars Hill got off to a hot start at the plate in the first. Chapel Matson, Terick Bumgarner, and Jackson Jones RBIs put the Lions on top 5-0.
- Jack Enrico (3-6) doubled down the right field line for two Mountain Lion runs in the first.
- From the second to the sixth inning, all the action at the plate was in favor of YH. The gap in score slowly closed after Drew Bray reached on a MHU error and Jonny Smith (2-6) had an RBI single in the second inning.
- In the third, Carlos Martans singled up the middle to drive in Jackson Morgan.
- The fourth inning consisted of a Jack Enrico RBI single to center and Jackson Morgan's RBI single through the left side. YH led 7-5.
- Home runs were a theme in the sixth. Walker Fox of MHU hit a grand slam and Jack Enrico hit a three-run home run. At the conclusion of the inning, Young Harris led by one 10-9.
- In the seventh inning, Elec Yount poked one through the Mountain Lion defense to tie the game at 10. Answering yet again, Kade Smallwood (2-4) went yard for three YH runs.
- The remainder of the offensive action was all MHU. In the eighth, three strong appearances at the plate tied the game at 13. Then, Chapel Matson's solo home run in the ninth sealed the deal for the Lions.
- Jack Enrico finished the day with an impressive stat line; He was 3-6 at the plate with an astonishing six RBIs.
