YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College freshman left-hander Sam Neal has been recognized as the Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week after an outstanding stretch on the mound for the Mountain Lions. 

Neal proved to be a vital asset out of the bullpen, delivering in key moments across three appearances. The freshman southpaw tossed 10.1 innings, recorded nine strikeouts, and earned a save while keeping opposing offenses in check. 

His standout performance came in game three against Erskine, where he was dominant in relief. Neal fired six scoreless innings, surrendering no runs while striking out seven Flying Fleet batters, giving Young Harris a chance to battle until the final out. 

Neal also showcased his closing ability, securing a 3.1-inning save in another Mountain Lions victory, allowing no earned runs and striking out one. 

Neal and the Mountain Lions return to action this Wednesday as they take on Carson-Newman University in a weekday single game matchup at 3 p.m. in Young Harris.
