YOUNG HARRIS, GA. In the historical Battle of Blood Mountain regional rivalry between Young Harris and North Georgia, the Mountain Lions defeated the Nighthawks with a final score of 8-1 (Feb 18
th).
Jeremy Begora's three-run blast and
Austin Ritchie's scoreless six on the mound led to the victory.Â

The Mountain Lions advance to 8-3 overall and remain 3-0 in Conference Carolinas. The Nighthawks are 6-5 overall and have not begun Peach Belt play yet.Â

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- After a scoreless five innings, the Mountain Lions struck first. Kade Smallwood reached on an UNG error, bringing home Drew Bray for the first run.
- Then, Jeremy Begora had an infield RBI to put Young Harris up 2-0.Â
- Stretching the lead even further, Luke Hatcher's double down the left field line and Jeremy Begora's three-run home run pushed the score to 7-0 in favor of the Mountain Lions.
- In the seventh, Luke Hatcher's sacrifice fly was the final run for YH.Â
- The lone run scored for the Nighthawks can be credited to Andrews Opata, who picked up a last effort RBI in the ninth.Â
- Austin Ritchie picked up his second win of the year after a scoreless six IP and only allowing four hits.Â

UP NEXT:Â The Mountain Lions hit the road this weekend to continue Conference Carolinas play (Feb 21
st-22
nd). Young Harris heads to Erskine College and will play a three-game series in Due West, SC. In the single game on Friday, first pitch is scheduled for 2PM. For the Saturday double-header, first pitches are scheduled for 11AM and 2PM.
