GREENVILLE, S.C. | Young Harris College men's basketball has been picked to finish second in the 2025-26 Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon. Last season, YH finished 21-9 and won one playoff game before falling to the Tornado.
The Mountain Lions earned 199 points in the poll, including one first-place vote, placing them just behind defending champion UNC Pembroke. The strong preseason ranking reflects the program's continued rise and the respect it has garnered across the conference.
Young Harris returns a veteran core led by senior forward Carl Cleveland, a two-time All-Conference Carolinas First Team selection and the 2023-24 Conference Carolinas Comeback Player of the Year. Cleveland has been a consistent force for the Mountain Lions, known for his scoring ability, rebounding presence, and leadership,
Also returning is senior forward Cameron Bleshoy, who earned a spot on the 2024-25 Conference Carolinas All-Defensive Team. Bleshoy brings intensity and versatility to the floor, anchoring the Mountain Lions' defensive efforts.
Sophomore guard Justin Payne is another key returner expected to take a leap this season after a promising freshman campaign. His development adds energy to the backcourt.
The Mountain Lions will look to build on last season's momentum and make a deep run in the 2026 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship, which begins March 1.
Young Harris tips off the season with its annual Purple and White Game on Thursday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. inside The Harp Recreation and Commencement Center. The regular season begins Friday, November 14 when the Mountain Lions host Middle Georgia.
