YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's basketball program has announced the addition of Torrence Lathon and Jensen Linton to its coaching staff ahead of the 2025–26 season. Lathon joins the Mountain Lions as an assistant coach following a successful run at Fayetteville State University, while Linton transitions from player to coach after a four-year career at YHC.

The hires come on the heels of a strong 2024–25 campaign for the Mountain Lions, who finished 21-9 overall, went 15-5 in Conference Carolinas play, and reached the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. Three players earned All-Conference honors, including rising seniors Carl Cleveland and Cameron Bleshoy, while Cleveland was also named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

TORRENCE LATHON:

A native of New Bern, North Carolina, Lathon brings a wealth of experience and energy to the Enchanted Valley. He played collegiately at Greensboro College, where he was known for his toughness and high motor, traits that have carried over into his coaching career.

Lathon spent five seasons as an assistant at his alma mater before joining the staff at Fayetteville State University from 2023 to 2025. During his time at FSU, he helped guide the Broncos to a Division II NCAA Tournament appearance, including a second-round berth, and contributed to back-to-back CIAA Southern Division titles. Across his career, he has coached eight All-Conference players and helped 33 student-athletes graduate.

"I'm incredibly excited to join the Young Harris College men's basketball program as an assistant coach," Lathon said. "It's an honor to work alongside Coach Jeremy Currier as we continue building a culture of excellence, growth, and success. Pouring into student-athletes and helping them reach their full potential is a true passion of mine, and I'm confident that Young Harris is the perfect place to make a real impact. I'm extremely grateful to Coach Currier for believing in me and welcoming me into the Mountain Lion family. I can't wait to get started. Let's go, Mountain Lions!"

Head Coach Jeremy Currier praised the hire, saying, "I am excited to welcome Torrence Lathon to our coaching staff. I coached against Torrence when he played at Greensboro College, where he was always known as a tough, resilient, and high-energy player that would do anything to win. He has carried those same values into his coaching career as he has earned the reputation as a coach with endless energy when it comes to developing players and building championship teams. Most recently, Torrence helped lead Fayetteville State University to the Division II NCAA Tournament while working under CIAA Coach of the Year Luke D'Alessio. We will lean on Torrence's passion, experience, and dedication to developing players both on and off the court in moving our program forward this season."

JENSEN LINTON:

Also joining the staff is Jensen Linton, a recent graduate of Young Harris College and a familiar face to Mountain Lion fans. A native of Liberal, Kansas, Linton played four seasons at YHC from 2021 to 2025 as a forward, earning All-Conference Academic honors and establishing himself as a leader at Young Harris College.

Linton earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports and Recreation Studies in 2025 and has been active in coaching through college camps and individual skills training. Known for his work ethic and team-first mentality, he now begins his coaching career at the place he called home as a student-athlete.

"I am blessed to be able to have this opportunity to join the Young Harris men's basketball staff as an assistant coach," Linton said. "I look forward to being able to work alongside Coach Currier and learn under him. I am very passionate about the game of basketball, and I am excited to be able to be on the other side of it and help impact lives on and off the court. There is no place I would rather start my coaching career than Young Harris College. It is full of great and supportive people that want the best for you. I can't wait to get started. Go Mountain Lions!"

Coach Currier expressed his excitement about keeping Linton in the program. "We are fortunate to have Jensen Linton remain with the Young Harris basketball family for another year, now joining the coaching ranks. Jensen has been a consummate teammate and leader in our program for the last four seasons and has made a major impact on our campus. I always aim to hire coaches that are hardworking, high character, and will put our players first, and Jensen embodies those values perfectly. He has a clear passion for developing players, building championship-level rosters, and helping student-athletes excel on and off the court. We are fortunate to have Jensen on our coaching staff."

With the addition of Lathon and Linton, the Mountain Lions continue to build momentum heading into the 2025–26 season, aiming to take the next step in their pursuit of a Conference Carolinas title and beyond.
