YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College is proud to announce that men's basketball alumnus Karl Chavis has signed a professional contract with BBC Nyon, a member of the Swiss Basketball League, the highest tier of professional basketball in Switzerland. Chavis, a standout forward for the Mountain Lions, will begin his professional career overseas after a decorated five-year collegiate journey. Known for his versatility, leadership, and relentless work ethic, Chavis leaves Young Harris as one of the most accomplished players in program history.
"I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity to begin my professional career and to join BBC Nyon in Switzerland," said Chavis. "It's a blessing to take this next step, and I'm looking forward to competing at a high level and doing everything I can to help the team chase championships. I'm so grateful for my time at Young Harris College, those five years shaped me both on and off the court. I wouldn't be where I am today without the support of my coaches, teammates, and the entire YHC community. That work in the dark is going to show in the light."
During his time at Young Harris, Chavis earned All-Conference honors in both 2023 and 2025 and consistently demonstrated excellence on the court. His career statistics reflect his impact: 110 games played, 102 starts, 1,711 total points, 15.6 points per game, 46.2% field goal percentage, 599 total rebounds, 245 assists, 66 blocks, and 99 steals. His senior season was his most dominant, averaging 18.5 points per game, while shooting 45.2% from the field.
"I am so proud of Karl, this could not have happened to a better person," said Head Coach Jeremy Currier. "It was an absolute blessing to be able to work with Karl every day for the last four years, and I will forever be indebted to him for his loyalty and commitment to making Young Harris basketball a quality program. Karl impacted our program as much off the court as he did on, and he's one of the best players to wear a Young Harris jersey. We are all so proud of KC and will be rooting hard for his future success from the Enchanted Valley."
As Karl Chavis embarks on his professional journey in Switzerland, the Young Harris College community celebrates his achievements and looks forward to watching him shine on the international stage.
