Mountain Lions Fall Short in Nail-Biter Against Shorter Hawks, 66-65

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College Mountain Lions women's basketball team faced off against Conference Carolinas foe Shorter University and saw their seven-game home winning streak come to an end with a narrow 66-65 loss on Wednesday (Jan. 8) evening at The Harp.

Despite a valiant effort led by Kamryn Bates, who scored a game-high 20 points, the Mountain Lions fell short in the final moments. The defeat drops Young Harris to a 9-5 overall record, while the Hawks improved to 9-2 overall.

QUOTE FROM HEAD COACH LINDSEY HUFFMAN:

"I don't feel we played our best basketball as a team today. There are so many factors that go into winning- rebounding and half-court defense are at the top of that list in my opinion. I didn't feel our half-court defense was as impactful as it usually is, and I wasn't happy with our rebounding efforts. We gave up way too many paint points and didn't consistently convert our shots at the rim. Good teams learn from the losses. We will be very focused on growing from this loss in the next few practices."
