Men’s Tennis Has Strong Showing at YHC Invitational

2ND ANNUAL YOUNG HARRIS INVITATIONAL YHC MEN'S RESULTS
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris Men's Tennis hosted the 2nd Annual YHC Invitational this past weekend. Emmanuel, Reinhardt, Montevallo, Newberry, and Brenau all traveled down to the Enchanted Valley to participate in the bracket style tournament.

DRAW STRUCTURE:
Bracket order -
  1. Blue
  2. Red
  3. Green
  4. Purple
  5. Orange
  6. Yellow
  • East is the main draw.
  • The first round loser from the east moves to the west draw.
  • If a player loses in the west draw, they get moved down to the south draw.
  • Second round loser of the east draw then gets moved to the play-offs draw.
SINGLES:
Junior, Mason Harmon played singles in the East Blue bracket and made it all the way to the Championship match before falling (6-4, 6-2, 11-9) to Pol Masafret from Reinhardt University. Harmon beat Emmanuels James Girdler (4-6, 7-6, 11-9) in the quarterfinals and his opponent in the semifinals match retired to vault Harmon into the Championship for his bracket.

Senior Caleb McCurry fell to the University of Montevallo's Luiz Gobbi Brandao (6-3, 3-6, 5-10) in the quarterfinals of the East Red bracket. He then shifted to the West bracket and won both matches (6-1, 6-1) and (6-2, 7-5).

Freshmen Greyson Williams and Noah Pawirodirjo competed in the East Green bracket. Williams lost (7-6, 4-6) in the quarterfinals. Greyson shifted to the West side of the bracket and rattled off two wins (6-3. 7-5) against Emmanuel's Ebon Gunyon and (6-4, 6-4) against Newberry's Senthen Reddy. Pawirodirjo won his first match (5-7, 6-3, 14-10) and took the semifinals in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). Reinhardt's Nikolai Hensberg got the best of Pawirodirjo in the championship winning (6-0, 6-3).

Farhaan Patrawala advanced all the way to the finals in the East Purple bracket. He received a bye into the semifinals and won that match (6-2, 6-1). Gregor Gottein lost in the East side of the bracket but took down the West side of the bracket with two straight set victories (6-1, 6-2) and (6-3, 6-1).

Freshman Parker Rowan dominated and won the East Orange draw. He won the quarterfinals (7-6, 6-1), the semis (6-3, 6-0), and the finals (6-2, 2-6, 10-8). Mika Sheth fell in the opening match of the East Orange draw (2-6, 3-6).

Holden Hall wrapped up singles for the Mountain Lions in the East Yellow bracket. The Sophomore won his quarterfinal match (6-1, 6-0), then won the semifinals in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) before losing the finals (6-7, 7-5, 8-10).
 
DOUBLES:
McCurry and Williams competed in the blue bracket. They won their opening match against Montevallo 6-4 and followed that up with another 6-4 victory in the semifinals. They won their finals match 7-5 to win their doubles bracket.

Harmon and Pawirodirjo played in the red bracket. The tandem won their first match 7-5 over Montevallo. The pair won the second match 6-4 and the third 6-3. Unfortunately, they lost the next match 7-5.

Gottein / Rowan and Patrawala / Sheth tackled the green bracket. Gottein and Rowan crushed their opponents in the first match to win 6-0. The duo cruised to a 6-2 victory and then a 7-5 win in their final doubles match. Patrawala and Sheth lost 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

Sheth got paired up with Holden Hall. The pair lost their opening doubles match 6-3 and then won their final doubles match 6-0.

Men's Tennis travels to Sumter South Carolina for the ITA Regionals starting on Saturday at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
