Mountain Lions Men’s Tennis Team Stays Hot with Win Over Belmont Abbey College

Young Harris, GA| The YHC men's tennis team faced the BAC Crusaders on Friday (Apr. 5) afternoon at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex in Young Harris. YHC took down BAC 5-3 to continue their hot streak. 

Young Harris moved to 8-6 overall this season and pushed their winning streak to four games. BAC moved to 16-17 overall. The Mountain Lions return on Saturday (Apr. 6) at 1 p.m., when they hit the road and take on Converse University in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

"Big win for the men today! It started with the doubles win that sparked our momentum going into singles. They all fought hard, played well, and never let up. It was a well earned victory and I am happy for them!"

INSIDE THE SCORE SHEET:

  • The Mountain Lions took two of three doubles matches from the Crusaders. 

  • The pairings of Rodrigo Mendoza and Caleb McCurry (6-2) and Jamie Bixby and Hemang Gaur (6-3) won doubles matches for the Mountain Lions to take a 1-0 lead from the jump. 

  • YHC won four singles matches today to earn the other four points in the stellar win over the Crusaders. 

  • Bixby (6-4 and 7-6), McCurry (1-6, 6-3, and 6-5), Eric DelValle (6-4, 1-6, and 6-2), and Gaur won their singles matches for the Mountain Lions in route to victory.
