SPARTANBURG, S.C. | Young Harris Women's Golf finished in 10
th at the Conference Carolinas Championship.
Tamara Brito had the best performance of the tournament for the Mountain Lions. She finished tied for 11
th, carding a 23 over par at the Carolina Country Club. North Greenville won the tournament and captured their first Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Championship.
QUOTING HEAD COACH JOHN LICHTENWALNER:
"The tournament was a struggle overall, but it is good to see
Tamara Brito finish T-11 without her best golf. It is exciting to have this week's starters all returning next year. The team has worked very hard this semester, and it's great to have that precedent set for the future."
INSIDE THE SCORECARD:
- Through three rounds, Young Harris recorded a team score of 1050 (354, 344, 372).
- Brito scored her lowest 18 for the tournament in round one, posting a six over par 78.
- Lucy Wiegert finished the Conference Championship in a tie for 15th place. Weigert posted a +26 (82, 83, 77) over the three-round event. In the final round, she shot five-over par with 13 pars and a birdie on hole eight.
- Connor Johnson recorded a 33 over par and tied for 27th in the field. She scored 85, 81, and 83 over the three rounds. Johnson grabbed a birdie on hole eight in round two and added 10 pars on the day.
- Mia Edmondson finished in 46th with a total score of 320 over three rounds. Edmondson carded her lowest score of the tournament in Monday's round, shaving 13 strokes off her score from Sunday.
