YOUNG HARRIS, GA| After trailing 1-6 in the second inning, the Mountain Lions crawled back and were within one after the seventh; however, they ultimately fell short to Mars Hill University with a final score of 5-6 (Mar 27th). Early pitching struggles for YHC were a factor in this afternoon's loss to the Lions.
The Mountain Lions move to 25-6 overall and are 12-3 in Conference Carolinas. The Lions move to 11-20 overall and are 3-12 in the SAC. YHC will head to North Greenville University for a big conference series this weekend (Mar 29th/30th). First pitches are scheduled for 3:30PM (Mar 29th) and 12PM + 3PM (Mar 30th).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
· The Lions started off strong as Zach Weaver went yard in the bottom of the first. His three-run HR put the Lions up 3-0.
· Young Harris responded right away. Ethan Stamps (2-5) fired one through the right side for YHC's first run of the afternoon.
· Mars Hill's Chad Sikes hit a three-run HR in the second, extending the lead to 6-1.
· Young Harris nearly brought the whole lineup to the plate in the second inning. The Mountain Lions tacked on three runs off a MHU fielding error and Jeremy Begora's (1-3) RBI double. The score read 6-4 in favor of Mars Hill.
· For YHC's fifth run, Kade Smallwood hit a SAC fly to right field in the seventh.
· Cole Edwards picked up five strikeouts over his three IP.
· Young Harris only had five hits to Mars Hill's 10.
