Mountain Lions Roar Past Brenau Tigers in Dominant 80-53 Victory

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College Mountain Lions extended their winning streak at The Harp to six games with an 80-53 non-conference victory over the Brenau University Tigers on December 12.

Annalise Malone spearheaded the offensive effort for the Mountain Lions, contributing a team-high 30 points and nine rebounds. The win moves Young Harris to a 7-3 overall record as they continue to build momentum in their season.

QUOTE FROM HEAD COACH LINDSEY HUFFMAN:

"I thought our toughness was great. We did not play well in the first half, but we played better in the second half. We shared the ball well and played well in the pain. The paint was a big emphasis for us offensively and we executed the offense well. Belmont Abbey will be a tough matchup, but the good news is that we are done with finals and will have four days to prepare for them. They are tough on the defensive end and fundamentally sound on offense; it will be a tough matchup, but we are excited for the challenge."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Annalise Malone scored 30 points and grabbed nine boards, game-highs in each category.

  • Ivona Miljanic and Courtney Davis each tallied 14 points; Miljanic added five assists and two steals, while Davis brought down six rebounds.

  • The Young Harris defense was great against the long ball, surrendering just seven threes on twenty-eight attempts.

  • Young Harris capitalized on their depth, with nine different players adding to the scoring effort.

  • YHC scored 26 points in the paint, 13 points off turnovers, 15 second chance points, and 21 points off the bench.
