MARIETTA, Ga. | Young Harris College used an 11-run fifth inning to defeat Claflin University 18-2 in seven innings Friday (April 7) afternoon at the Perfect Game Complex.
With the series sweep, the Mountain Lions, who are No. 30 in Collegiate Baseball poll and No. 23 in the NCBWA poll, improved to 28-11 overall and to 18-6 in the Peach Belt Conference. The Panthers remained winless in 31 tries, including 20 games in the PBC. The Mountain Lions return to action Tuesday (April 11) with a 3 p.m. contest against Mars Hill University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Young Harris pounded out 12 hits, including three from Jarrett Ford and two more from Drew Bray.
- Bray led the way with four runs driven in, while Ford, Steven Spell, and Jackson Kemp drove in two apiece.
- The Mountain Lions took advantage of 11 walks and three hit by pitches.
- Kemp's two-run homer to left field highlighted the 11-run fifth inning. It was his fifth homer of the season.
- Zach Murray (5-3) earned the win, while Colby Williams recorded five strikeouts in three innings of relief.
