AUGUSTA, Ga. | Augusta University defeated Young Harris College 4-1 in a battle of nationally ranked men's tennis teams at the Newman Tennis Center Tuesday (April 18) afternoon.
The Jaguars, who are ranked No. 27 in the latest ITA rankings, improved to 15-8 overall and to 2-4 in the Peach Belt, while the 45th-ranked Mountain Lions fell to 10-10 and 0-6. Both teams have qualified for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament that begins Friday (April 21) in Columbus, Georgia.
INSIDE THE SCORESHEET:
- Rodrigo Mendoza earned the Young Harris point with his 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
- The teams were playing to clinch, but Chimo Minguez Ribera was up at No. 3 singles 6-2, 5-2 and Pieke Bouman has won his first set at No. 1 singles 6-4 before the match was halted.
