YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The University of Texas at Tyler defeated Young Harris College 6-1 in a battle of nationally ranked men's tennis teams Wednesday (March 15) afternoon at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
The eighth-ranked Patriots improved to 10-1, while the Mountain Lions, who moved up two positions to No. 36, fell to 9-4. YHC hosts No. 9 Lee University next Wednesday (March 22) at 2 p.m.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Even though the Patriots took the doubles point, Mason Harmon and Caleb McCurry teamed up to win the No. 3 doubles by a score of 6-4 for the Mountain Lions.
- Gavin Thomas won the No. 4 singles match in three sets. Thomas won the opening set 6-2 before his opponent won the second set to tie up the match. Thomas then won the super tiebreaker 10-8 to earn the point for Young Harris.
