JACKSON, Tenn. | Ethan Stamps' two home runs propelled No. 30 Young Harris College past Union (Tenn.) University 13-2 in a non-conference baseball game Sunday (Feb. 5) afternoon at Fesmire Field.
The Mountain Lions ran their record to 3-0 after the weekend sweep of the Bulldogs, who fell to 0-3. Young Harris returns to action Tuesday (Feb. 7) with a 2 p.m. game at Mars Hill University in Mars Hill, North Carolina.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions scored in every inning but the fourth and sixth innings as they built up a 13-0 lead after the first seven innings.
- Marco Colina led off the game with a double and scored on a Rome Wallace infield single.
- YHC added five more runs in the second. Drew Bray started the rally with an RBI single. Ethan Underwood added a two-run double followed by a 2 RBI triple by Wallace.
- Stamps added a two-run homer to center in the third and led off the fifth with a long ball to right-center field as YHC expanded its lead to 9-0.
- The Mountain Lions scored four runs in the seventh. Wallace added another RBI on a fielder's choice, while Jeremy Begora, Steven Spell and James Basham were each hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.Â
- Ryan Cross (1-0) earned the win with five scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and struck out four.
- Wallace had two hits and drove in four runs, while Colina led YHC with three hits. Stamps finished with two hits and 3 RBI.
