No. 13 Wingate hands Young Harris first loss of the season

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Leah Knowles scored six goals to lead No. 13 Wingate University past Young Harris College 20-7 in a non-conference women's lacrosse match Sunday (Feb. 12) morning at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0, while the Mountain Lions suffered their first loss of the season as they fell to 2-1. YHC faces another ranked team Wednesday (Feb. 15) at home as they entertain No. 16 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University at 1 p.m.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

Wingate scored the first nine goals of the match.
Ashlyn Fraley, Ally Cattoni and Ruthie Mandell each scored twice for Young Harris, while Morgan Lewis scored the other goal.
Kinsley Purser led the way with three assists, while Emily Flynt, Belle Hardwick, Mandell and Parker Vaughan had one each.
Emma Brennan and Abbie Gallagher each had three ground balls for YHC, while Ella Hancock, Mary Troyer and Purser recorded two draw controls apiece.
Hancock also tallied two caused turnovers.
Maddy Meyers (5), Abbie Gallagher (4) and McKenna Graf (1) combined for 10 saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
