BOCA RATON, Fla. | Shawn Dougherty's one-out solo home run in the bottom of the ninth gave the Lynn University baseball team a 5-4 win over No. 30 Young Harris College Friday (Feb. 10) afternoon.
The Knights improved to 3-1-1, while the Mountain Lions fell to 4-1. Young Harris remains in the Sunshine state as the Mountain Lions travel down I-95 to Miami Shores, Florida, to face Barry University at 6 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 11).
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions took an early 3-0 lead as they pushed across runs in the first, third and fourth innings.
- Marco Colina led off the game with a home run for his third long ball of the season.
- Ethan Stamps singled home Jarrett Ford in the second. Ford reached on his own single and then stole second base.
- Mark Castle's single in the fourth scored Drew Bray, who had doubled.
- After Lynn tied the game at 3 in the bottom of the sixth inning and took a 4-3 lead an inning later, YHC tied the game at 4 in the eighth. Jace Wilson had an RBI ground out that scored Ford, who had a reached on a single.
- Dylan Beck (0-1) took the loss.
- Reliever Brady Caloway recorded six strikeouts in two innings.
- Ford led the Mountain Lions with four hits
