SUMTER, S.C. | The Young Harris College men's and women's tennis teams competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Southeast Regional Championship this past weekend at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

The Mountain Lions had three men's players and three women's players in the field. Chimo Minguez Ribera and Emily Bush each won two singles matches, while Pieke Bouman won one of his singles matches.

'It's always a great weekend when the players leave everything out on court, regardless of the outcome of the match," said Director of Tennis Andrew Cobb. "I don't think I could've asked them to fight harder in any of their matches, so it was really nice to see them all step up to the occasion. Chimo had great wins, as well as Emily and Pieke. Joselyne and Simone battled tough opponents in both of their matches but came up short. It is definitely motivation for the players to keep working hard!"

The Mountain Lions return to action this weekend at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex when they host the Enchanted Valley Showdown. Men's action begins at 5 p.m. Friday (Sept. 30), while the women's action begins at 9 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 1).
