Mountain Lions open season at Savannah Lakes Invitational

McCORMICK, S.C. | The Young Harris College women's golf team opened their 2022-23 season at the Savannah Lakes Invitational Monday (Sept. 19) afternoon.

Young Harris opened play on the par 72, 5,820-yard layout on the Monticello Golf Course with a score of 337 and is in 16th place. Tournament host Lander University leads the tournament with an opening round 293, one stroke better than Columbus State University.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD:
  • Lucy Wiegert was the top Mountain Lion golfer on the day, shooting an 81 and is tied for 59th place.
  • Tamara Brito carded an 83 and is in 71st place, while Alanis Santiago Maldonado posted an 84 and is tied for 72nd.
  • Connor Johnson fired an 89 and is tied for 88th, while Sarah Comer signed for a 106 and is in 94th.
  • The 36-hole tournament concludes Tuesday (Sept. 20). The Mountain Lions begin their final round at 9:08 a.m. from the 10th tee.
