YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Taylor Greenberg scored seven goals as Young Harris College recorded a 18-11 Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse victory over the University of Montevallo on Senior Day Saturday (April 9) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse FIeld.
The Mountain Lions improved to 7-7 overall and to 2-1 in the Gulf South, while the Falcons fell to 3-10 and 0-4. The Mountain Lions return to action Wednesday (April 13) when they travel to Cleveland, Tennessee, for a 4 p.m. GSC match against Lee University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Greenberg was one of four seniors recognized prior to the match. Manager Erika Williams, goalie Rachel Robb and defender Eryn Brown were also honored.
- After Montevallo jumped out to a 6-3 lead with 1:29 left in the first quarter, Greenberg scored the next four goals as the Mountain Lions took a 7-6 lead wih 10:14 left before halftime. YHC never trailed the remainder of the way/
- The seven goals by Greenberg were tied for the sixth most in a game by a Mountain Lion in the program's history.
- Belle Hardwick scored three goals and assisted on four others for seven points.
- Kinsley Purser and Ruthie Mandell found the back of the net twice, while Felisse Richard, Emily Flynt, Ashlyn Fraley and Ally Cattoni had one each.
- Morgan Lewis also had four assists, while Flynt, Ella Hancock, Purser, RIchard and Parker Vaughan had one apiece.
- Greenberg led YHC with six draw controls, while Flynt posted four.
- Greenberg scooped up five ground balls, while Purser corralled four. Hancock and Brown each collected three.
- Brown and Purser each caused two turnovers.
- Robb recorded 13 saves between the pipes for the Mountain Lions.
- YHC held a 32-31 edge in shots and a 26-15 margin in ground balls, while the Falcons had a 17-15 edge in draw controls.
