YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College baseball team picked up a 9-4 midweek victory over Lincoln Memorial University Wednesday (April 6) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field
Young Harris improved to 22-12, while the Railsplitters fell to 18-15. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (April 9) afternoon with a 1 p.m. Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Logan Worley was 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and led the Mountain Lions with five RBI. Worley hit a grand slam to left center in the second, and added a solo home run to left in the eighth to give YHC its final run of the game.
- Noah Fitzgerald roped a two-run home run to left in the seven-run second inning.
- Brady Caloway (1-0) earned his first win of the season on the mound. Caloway pitched three scoreless innings and scattered just two hits.
- Steven Spell drove in the lone run in the third inning with a double down the left field line that scored Mark Castle.
- The Mountain Lions totaled 12 hits. Castle and Worley led with three, Fitzgerald connected on two, while Kyle Ayers, Jackson Jones, Jackson Kemp, and Steven Spell recorded one apiece.
- Brody Meeks pitched three scoreless innings in relief and struck out five.
- McLain Harris also pitched two innings of relief and struck out three.
