Americus, Ga. | The Young Harris College baseball team lost 7-3 to Georgia Southwestern State University in a Peach Belt Conference game Saturday (April 30) afternoon at Hurricane Stadium.
YHC fell to 32-16 overall and 16-10 in the Peach Belt, while GSW improved to 25-23 and 17-9. The Mountain Lions and the Hurricanes wrap up the series Sunday (May 1) with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Logan Worley and Ethan Underwood led the Mountain Lions with three hits apiece. Steven Spell and Aaron Copeland each connected on two, while Jackson Jones and Mark Castle had one.
- Georgia Southwestern scored five runs in the first, one in the fourth, and one in the eighth to earn the win.
- YHC scored its first run in the third. Worley hit a two-out single up the middle, Underwood followed with a double, and Noah Fitzgerald's hit by pitch brought Worley in.
- The Mountain Lions added its final runs in the ninth after Copeland hit a RBI double to left, and Ayers hit a sacrifice fly to score Castle.
- Nate Lamb (5-4) recorded the loss for YHC.
