AMERICUS, Ga. | Jared Donaldson allowed four hits and struck out nine as Georgia Southwestern State University picked up an 11-1 Peach Belt Conference baseball decision in seven innings over Young Harris College Friday (April 29) evening at Hurricane Stadium.
The Hurricanes improved to 24-23 overall and to 16-9 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 32-15 and 16-9. The teams will play the middle game of the series at 2 p.m. Saturday (April 30).
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Young Harris took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Mark Castle started the two-out rally by reaching on an error then moving to second base on a passed ball. A single by Aaron Copeland moved Castle to third before Castle scored on Kyle Ayers' RBI single to right.
- The Hurricanes took the lead with a three-run third inning. Georgia Southwestern added a run in the fourth before scoring seven runs in the sixth inning.
- Ayers led YHC with two hits, while Logan Worley and Copeland had one apiece.
- Mason Herbert (3-3) took the loss. He struck out nine in five innings.
